OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2009 
· The REVIA Foundation achieved the second place out of 27 participants in the Best Annual Report 2008 contest in the cathegory of Electronic Annual Reports of Non-profit-making Organizations. The contest has been organised since 1999 by the Institute for Economic and Social Reforms INEKO, Public Relations and Advertising Company SK-media and TREND Weekly. Professional guarantors of this year’s competition were the audit company KMPG Slovakia and the consulting group Amrop Hever Slovakia. The advertising partner of the contest was the Slovenské elekrárne, Enel company.
· We provided service to the largest number of donors and distributed 147 086 € according to their intentions, which has been the greatest amount of financial means managed in the period of one year.
In 2009 we supported 30 projects in total sum of 6 735 €, out of which 20 projects amounting to 5 889 € were in Pezinok.

In the 13 years of existence of the organization we supported
722 projects in total sum of 211 136 €,
out of which 419 projects in total sum of 125 362 € in Pezinok,
and 303 projects in total sum of 85 774 € in other towns and villages.

- PROJECTS DESIGNATED BY DONORS
In 2009 we allocated 141 267 € to purpose-bound projects following intentions of donors.

During our 13-year existence we fulfilled donors’ wishes by allocating 546 960 € in total.

- PROJECTS TO ENCOURAGE DONORSHIP
The campaign for 2% of taxes of individuals and legal entities
In 2009 the foundation received the sum of 64 465 € from 2% of taxes. We will have made use of it by the end of 2010. The sum of 208 327 €gained from 2% of taxes in 2008 was used for three different purposes: volunteer projects of inhabitants in the open grant round, projects designated by donors, and institutional securing of the organization.

During the 8 year time of assignation of % of taxes we obtained the total amount of 468 867 €.

The Club of Donors project
The project encourages individual donations of the region’s inhabitants. In partnership with Zapadoslovenska energetika, Inc. Bratislava and Development In Slovak Investments, Ltd. Pezinok the REVIA Foundation supported 6 projects in the sum of 1 656 € that are to support Scouts, people with physical disabilities, senior citizens and cultural activities of the inhabitants.

During its 5 year existence 84 projects amounting to 26 567 € were supported.

Open Your Heart, Give a Book project
In 2009 anonymous donors donated books in the sum of 1 560 € through REVIA foundation to 206 children from socially disadvantaged families who are registered at the department of social services and attend 10 elementary schools in the region and those at children’s home in Trnava.

In five Christmas seasons donors bought books in the sum of 4 133 € and delighted
altogether 573 children.

The Challenge project
In 2009 we obtained the sum of US$ 9 714 in the project. The three year project was aimed at building up the foundation’s endowment from the local financial resources. Received contributions were multiplied by the equal sum from Wings – Global Fund for Community Foundations and these will help the long-term running of the organization.
During three years we added 31 441 € up to the foundation’s assets.
- PROJECTS OF CROSS-SECTOR COOPERATION
Managing the foundation’s funds
The foundation manages several funds – endowment funds contributing to the property of the foundation to ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization, funds for special purposes designated by donors alone, and combined funds. Functioning of the funds is effective as consolidation of donations can facilitate the more help towards a particular goal, purpose or need.
Cooperation with local governments
Multilaterally advantageous partnership brought about benefits to all sides involved as their peferences are for projects dealing with problems and needs of the region’s inhabitants and those improving the quality of their lives.

Since 2000 REVIA cooperates with 20 municipalities of the region.

- PROJECTS UNITING THE COMMUNITY
Christmas bazaar and live Christmas astronomical clock
REVIA foundation directed the realisation of a live Christmas astronomical clock with volunteers in a bow window of the Old Town Hall. Tasty treats prepared and offered by volunteers from Pezinok’s institutions in a “charity bazaar” brought proceeds of 620 € that are to be used for removing architectonical barriers in buildings in Pezinok.

The day of Smile Campaign / The Day of Good-heartedness / The Day of Volunteers
There was a friendly greeting or thanking for providing help and support to others and to the foundation itself communicated via email in connection with the above mentioned world days.
In Our Village project
The part of the town Modra – Kralova celebrated the 400th anniversary of its establishment this year. The Revia Foundation supported financially the exhibition Of Historical School, Educational Footway about the history of Kralova and the Royal Theatre of Modra, obtained dummies for an exposition of the fire brigade and prepared trampoline and creative workshops for children and visitors.
Books from a Hand to a Hand project
The idea of the project is of passing books among inhabitants of Pezinok, Modra and Senkvice who can read interesting publications from various areas. The project was realised in cooperation with young philanthropists – volunteers of the foundation.
Mandala project
During the Pezinok’s harvesting of wine grapes the Revia Foundation organized the event when around 50 volunteers created a shared mandala – a circular colourful image almost 3 metres in diameter which was damaged consequently. The aim of this activity was to bring people, even strangers, together, join them in a team effort by which they could also find joy from the action. Besides the big one 25 minimandalas were created by children.
Live “Man, Don’t Get Mad“ Game
Inhabitants of the Small Carpathian region were joined for a short time at a traditional party game „Man, Don’t Get Mad“ in an unusual form – the roles of the figures were taken by the players themselves. On the playing board of 36m2more than 40 people in three rounds with 4 teams in each round competed to win. Passers-by engaged in the game, too. The game, which lasted 5 hours, was a part of celebrations of the Day of Community Foundations celebrated within the Association of Slovak Community Foundations.
- PROJECTS TO PROMOTE VOLUNTEERING
Development of volunteering
Activities of REVIA are realized thanks to involvement of many volunteers (around 250) from elementary schools, non-governmental organizations or region’s individuals. Volunteers are also members of the administrative board (7), the investment, grant and marketing committee (8) and consultants (18).
- PROJECTS TO ENCOURAGE EDUCATION
Young Philanthropists project
The project mobilizes and involves inactive young people into volunteer activities in the region. Thanks to the support of the SPP Foundation the eight member youth grant committee “Filfriends” supported 10 youth projects in the sum of 2 160 € in 2009.
In the five years of the project’s existence, 38 young philanthropists assisted realisation of
52 projects in the sum of 14 707 €.
Young scientists
The project encourages and enhances teaching of scientific subjects at a secondary school integrating information technologies, foreign languages and scientific knowledge. It has been realised at the Grammar School in Pezinok with a contribution from IBM Slovakia within its programme On Demand Community.
Advisory and consultative activities
- service for donors – development of donation policy in firms by managing the foundation’s funds
- service for non-governmental organizations – establishment of a civil society association, registration of recipients of 2% of taxes, consultation of various kind
- free of charge activities: providing knowledge and know-how regarding legislation and databases of the third sector, networking of organizations, web-hosting at www.revia.sk
- attendance in consultative committees in grant rounds of other foundations

Communication with the public
Partnership with the Club of Entrepreneurs of the City of Pezinok, local media and Expres Radio andthe TOP Centre of Ladies-Entrepreneurs and Ladies-Managers of Slovakia has workedon various levels. Within development of mutual relationships, we could realize many activities and inform the public about them.
Communication with the Association of Slovak Community Foundations
The mutual communication with the Association continued also in 2009 with realization of several projects in which we took the role of partners to large corporations seeking after financial aid for particular regions in which we operate. We also ensured promotion of the common project called the Day of Community Foundations within the national media.
Communication with non-governmental organizations from Slovakia and from abroad
REVIA cooperates with organizations of similar focus of activity not only within Slovakia but also from abroad. Several meetings with non-governmental organizations’ representatives and presentations of the organization give evidence of such cooperation.
